Environmental Product Declarations

What is an EPD?

An EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) is an environmental declaration document, verified by an independent third party, that transparently, comparably and in accordance with international standards presents the environmental impacts of a product throughout its life cycle.

What is an EPD for aluminium products?

An EPD for aluminium products is a document that quantifies and reports the environmental impacts of the entire life cycle of aluminium, starting from bauxite ore or secondary scrap sources and covering casting, rolling, heat treatment, surface coating, shipment and end‑of‑life recycling processes. This document reports indicators such as energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions (carbon footprint), water use, waste generation and resource consumption, calculated using scientific methods.

Within the scope of our sustainability strategy, and in line with transparency, data‑driven management and customer expectations, we prepare EPDs for our aluminium products. In this context, we have developed product group EPDs for our foil, sheet, coated products and our 3xxx and 8xxx alloys, reflecting the average production processes and performance of the relevant product groups. In this way, our customers can calculate the environmental impacts of the aluminium products they procure on a project basis (for example in construction, packaging, automotive applications) and make decisions that are aligned with their own sustainability targets.

Thus, our EPDs for aluminium products are positioned as a strategic tool both for managing our own sustainability performance and for contributing to our customers’ environmental goals.
